The Shed is a new cultural institution of and for the 21st century. We produce and welcome innovative art and ideas, across all forms of creativity, to build a shared understanding of our rapidly changing world and a more equitable society. In our highly adaptable building on Manhattan’s west side, The Shed brings together established and emerging artists to create new work in fields ranging from pop to classical music, painting to digital media, theater to literature, and sculpture to dance. About the Position
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Partnerships, the Venue Sales Assistant is tasked with providing administrative support to the Venue Sales team. Assistant will be involved in all administrative aspects of rental events, with a goal to keep the department organized to optimize overall sales performance. This position requires a reliable, trustworthy individual with a strong sense of accountability, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Flexibility, sustained initiative, and the ability to handle multiple priorities is crucial to success.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to
-Promptly respond to general rental inquiries and escalate opportunities that require higher level oversight
-Assist the Director in managing internal and external stakeholder workflows
-Support the Associate Director and Operations Manager with sales-produced engagement
-Proactively maintain Sales marketing materials
-Lead site visits with current and prospective clients
-Assist the Sales team with all administrative aspects of event planning and reconciliation
-Maintain and communicate a continuous and recognizable standard of event services
-Assist with marketing and social media efforts to promote private rental events
-Attend and participate in all assigned events
-Manage departmental expenses and complete monthly credit card reconciliation
Qualifications and Qualities
-1 to 2 of years relevant experience providing administrative and customer support, preferably in an arts institution or gallery
-Excellent communication and writing skills with meticulous and professional attention to detail
-Astute and diplomatic; has the ability to resolve issues calmly under pressure
-A creative thinker and imaginative problem solver
-Demonstrated ability to work as part of a highly collaborative and open-minded team
-Able to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment handling multiple priorities both independently and with a team
-Willingness to work with a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs. Select weekends and weeknights as required
-Excellent computer skills necessary, including Excel, Word, Office and Google Platform. Experience in VenueOps, Zkipster and Tessitura is a plus
-Fluency in current event trends is a plus
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
