How sad and disappointing to see her over in Dubai, playing for billionaires. Worse than Mar-a-Lago. She obviously does not care about gay rights or any other human right. I would not take one cent to promote these people.
I'm disgusted by this, as well at Cristiano Ronaldo playing for a Saudi Arabian soccer team. These dictatorships just wag some cash in front of western talent, and they come running. It's embarrassing.
According to BBC, the 24M is "reported" but not "confirmed". I suspect the amount is correct or close to it.
It was also noted that she did nothing from her latest release which was an "homage" to the gay/club culture. But she gave a nod to Ukraine in her finale with her costume which was made for her in the Ukraine.
She is worth about half a billion. I know that artists these days depend on income from tours, with streaming being the main way we get their music, but she really doesn't need the money and I am sure she will make a ton more if she tours her latest album. And I suspect all of the fans that are mad at her now will be in some arena screaming their heads off when she performs in their city.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
ACL2006 said: "She's always been about herself and her needs."
Honestly, doesn't that describe just about everyone. Very few are truly completely altruistic despite their public pronouncements or the image they try to create. Just look at all the posts on this board alone saying theater producers should spend millions doing this or that with the sole rationale being "cause I'd like to see it."
It's easy to turn down $24 million for a few days work when you're not the one it's being offered to.
That she didn't do anything from the last album only makes it worse. Hypocrite. I've never liked the Kardashian big brand $$$ side of her success, but now I've lost respect for her as an artist. Seems it was all fake. Remember when Bruce Springsteen cancelled shows in North Carolina after they passed the "bathroom" law? I wish Beyoncé was more like that.
She’s always been a capitalist. Even this current album is very “calculated.” Dedicated to her Uncle Johnny? Oh please. It’s just another bandwagon for her to jump on. This is the same woman who once compared herself to Martin Luther King Jr., in a song.
"A week later, and she is asking us for money. No. I'll be skipping the tour. Hypocrite."
They are all about the money no matter how rich they are, and Beyonce knows no matter what she does people will fork out tons of money to see her. She really does not care if people like you think she is a hypocrite. You mentioned Springsteen not playing NC and let's not pin a medal on him. He basically did a PR move and instead of playing in NC, he just scheduled another big payday in another state. NC was more affected by the NBA All-Star game being moved and several conventions than one Springstein concert.
Let's be fair to artist's in the world we live in today. Do they have to check everything about a place before they perform there? Are people like you going to be upset if they play in a state where you don't like their abortion law? Maybe you don't like the gun laws of a state, should they not play there? I understand there is a difference when people in some countries actually hurt/harm people because of their sexual identity, I would certainly agree with you about artist not performing there. I just want people not to go overboard about stopping artists from making money due to rulings of a country or a state in the US.
You do agree with me, then. Beyoncé was wrong to take millions of dollars from homophobic human rights violators. If this is what is funding the new tour, then I don't want to participate. How much to do you know about her last album? It was about gay empowerment. Dubai was a real Judas kiss.
It's not the first time she has confused me. She's all about independent women, but then goes on a "Mrs. Carter" tour? I don't remember Jay going on a "Mr. Knowles" tour.

I know very little about Beyonce, her music does not interest me. I will take you for your word about her latest album and I understand your feelings. The only thing you could do is not buy any of her albums or go to her shows and encourage your friends/family to do the same thing. Of course, that will not affect her financially at all but at least you know you are doing your part. (kind of like you telling me you will not fly anymore due to climate change). Yes, I do agree with you, human rights violators should not be rewarded financially.

Quick question. In your opinion, can you be proud of your husband/marriage and still be an independent woman. I think the answer is yes. I think we all know Beyonce did not need her husband to become a star, she was one before meeting him. Correct me if I am wrong.
"Also, who are "people like me"? The woke brigade? I am a proud fully-paid-up member."
I did not mean any offense by that statement. My point was I believe most fans of an artist really don't worry about issues that you brought up and you seem to be very aware of these type of things like Beyonce playing Dubai and Springsteen not playing in NC. If I offended you, I apologize.
We are hoping to get tickets for her 2023 Renaissance World Tour, either Los Angeles or Las Vegas. This will be our first real journey out into the world since before everything stopped. Very exciting!

Good luck on getting tickets especially after the Taylor Swift ticket fiasco. I don't even want to guess how much these tickets will cost.
Zeppie, don't worry, I have a thick skin. You didn't offend me, this is just conversation. To answer your question, yes, of course an independent woman can have respect for her husband. I just find "Mrs. Carter" to be a subservient kind of respect. An independent woman is not the property or extension of her husband. I can not understand how 21st Century women still take the name of their husband, and then give their children his name. Tell me, do you know any men who took their wives names?
That should have been Etta James, but however. Hm, maybe she will play at the coronation of Charles III. Her tour starts in Europe just four days after the ceremony, so I'm serious. Good timing. She'll obviously play for anybody if the money is right.
