JUNE 11, 18 AT 3:00 PM
Queen Elizabeth is dead, and her favorite courtier, Sir Walter Raleigh, is facing the executioner's blade. Larger-than-life, Raleigh meets his fate with wit and aplomb, despite a court of vipers and a jealous king intent on bringing his downfall. "... Ira David Wood III has given audiences many memorable moments. But none perhaps is so poignant - or so uniquely his own - as Theatre In The Park's stage biography of Sir Walter Raleigh." - Raleigh Times.
Tickets are now on sale for a one-night-only performance by Tony Award-winning performer Beth Leavel at Theatre Raleigh at 8 p.m. Feb. 10.

Ira David Wood III's beloved musical comedy, A Christmas Carol, returns to DPAC for six performances on December 14 – 18, 2022.
From October 12th-17th, North Carolina Theatre will be presenting a production of 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, which is located inside Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The show features a book penned by Patricia Resnick, who was one of the screenwriters behind the original movie, and an original score written by Dolly Parton. North Carolina Theatre's production stars Sara Jean Ford as Judy Bernly (the Jane Fonda role), Lauren Kennedy, the Producing Artistic Director of Theatre Raleigh, as Violet Newstead (the Lily Tomlin role), and Ryah Nixon as Doralee Rhodes (the Dolly Parton role). Not to mention that Raleigh's own Ira David Wood III, the Artistic and Executive Director of Theatre in the Park, will be making a special appearance in the show as the Chairman of the Board. I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing actor Ben Davis, who will be taking on the role of Franklin Hart, Jr. Ben has previously appeared on Broadway in LES MISÉRABLES, LA BOHÈME (which earned him along with his fellow cast members a special Tony Award in 2003), THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, VIOLET, and DEAR EVAN HANSEN.
Ira David Wood III’s beloved musical comedy, A Christmas Carol, will return to DPAC for six performances on December 15 – 19, 2021. With a cast of almost 100, this wonderful holiday story is brought to life with great songs and tremendous heart.
From December 11th-22nd, Theatre in the Park will be presenting their 45th anniversary production of A Christmas Carol. I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing the show's playwright, Ira David Wood III, who is not only back directing this year, but he'll also be alternating the role of Ebenezer Scrooge with his oldest son, Ira David Wood IV.
Ira David Wood III's beloved musical comedy, A Christmas Carol, celebrates its 45th Anniversary and will return to DPAC for seven performances on December 18 - 22, 2019.
'Every year around this time of year, people come to hear the story…' And that's the way it's been for the last 43 years as audiences have come to see the Theatre in the Park production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL and Ira David Wood III as Scrooge. The show opens this Wednesday at the Durham Performing Arts Center. Adapted by Ira David Wood III, this version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL follows the traditional Dickens story, with a bit of updated humor. The miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three ghosts the night before Christmas. The apparitions are a telling reminder of Christmases past and a foreshadowing of Christmases to come.
Theatre In The Park is at 107 Pullen Rd. Raleigh, NC 27607, Raleigh, NC.
