SUMMARY
The Properties Supervisor & Artisan (PSA) will work with the Senior Technical Director (SrTD), Technical Director (TD), Stage Management, and all visiting directors & designers in acquiring and preparing all properties for each production. This includes properties for new productions, rental productions, and co-productions. This position may require hours beyond a normal forty-hour week, especially during the technical production and performance period.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following duties, in addition to other duties as assigned.
Per Production Duties:
• Compile properties/furniture lists from directors/designers, with assistance as needed from SrTD/TD, for each production during the season.
• All properties items, hand properties, and furniture will be available on the first day of rehearsal.
• Create photo-catalogue for all new productions created by TAO for archival purposes.
• Address issues/needs throughout the rehearsals in a timely fashion, reporting to Stage Management and artistic staff when items will be available.
• Working with Stage Management create lists for all perishable items during the rehearsals and performances.
• Be prepared to do daily maintenance, or direct said tasks to a union crew, at all performance venues.
• Be available for production meetings, as scheduled, either prior to rehearsals or beginning or during the technical & dress rehearsals at the venues.
Other Duties:
• Keep accurate accounting of all spending, working with the Finance Production Coordinator (FPC) to maintain budgets.
• Create and maintain an inventory of all properties and furniture in the TAO warehouse.
• Coordinate with the SrTD/TD all properties rentals, both locally & nationally, as needed, including making sure inventory is accurate and correct for all existing productions.
• Coordinate with SrTD/TD the inventory of all productions as they return to TAO, insuring any missing or damaged items are accounted for, replaced, and properly inventoried.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in theatre, plus 2-3 years’ experience in properties.
• Opera production background is desirable.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver license, and a clean driving record.
• Position requires evening and weekend obligations during the opera season.
• Ability to sit at a desk for up to and over eight hours per day.
• Ability to communicate using a phone and headset.
• Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner.
Salary: $1,000 - $1,200 / week BOE
