LOBBY HERO SYNOPSIS: Four New Yorkers involved in a murder investigation - a slacker security guard in a Manhattan apartment building, his by-the-book boss, a rookie cop and her macho partner - face moral and ethical dilemmas in this comic drama. JEFF: Male. Any ethnicity (20s) Glib, talkative, quirky, wisecracking slacker hoping to get his life together despite his history of underachievement and lack of real drive or ambition. An unlikely security guard with modest goals. Would like to get his own apartment & find a girlfriend. Has a crush on Dawn.
DAWN: Female. Any ethnicity (20s) A rookie cop with a strong sense of justice. Eager, resilient, but a bit naive. In a relationship with Bill, her macho, married partner on the job, who uses their dynamic to get what he wants. Has a dangerous temper.

THE MESSENGER SYNOPSIS: Inspired by the life of Hungarian Holocaust survivor Georgia Gabor, a teacher, this play interweaves her story with that of a young American woman facing racial discrimination in America, 2020. Connections between past, present, and future, and a choice between speaking up and speaking out, regardless of the consequences, or remaining silent for the sake of self-preservation affect the lives of everyone in this piece.
“2020”: East Asian-American Female (early 20s). She has a balance of depth and sense of humor - 2020 is a sensitive, hard-working recent high school graduate, very much caught up in the drama around her. She has a teenager's sense of snark, but never imagined straying too far from the path that has been set out for her.

Lauren Fein and her wife, Paola Muñoz, are professors at a prestigious American university. They live with Dylan, their 16-year-old African-American foster son whom they've cared for since he was a baby. When Professor Fein's actions run afoul of the university's DEI policies, her groundbreaking research, her career, and her family are all put in danger.
DYLAN FEIN-MORENO: Male. African or African-American (18+ to play 15 years old). Smart, empathetic, and likable but bears deep hurt from having suffered brutal neglect as a child at the hands of his biological mother. At times, he has outbursts of cruelty toward his parents.

A mentor to Dylan and close friend & colleague of Lauren & Paola. Funny, traditionally-minded, loyal. At times is perplexed by American attitudes & behavior. JUDGE HOWARD: A hard-nosed African-American judge who plays by the rules. Lauren’s professional & personal life hangs in the balance. This Pulitzer Prize-winning, groundbreaking play changed American theatre in the person of its everyman tragic hero, Willy Loman, a dime a dozen, disappointed, disillusioned, and delusional traveling salesman with a skewed vision of the American Dream. All he wanted, the playwright wrote in his memoir, was to count. Or as Willy's wife, Linda, implores, Attention must be paid.
BIFF: Male. Any Ethnicity (Late 20s-late 30s). The Lomans' older son. The once-confident and ever popular former high school football star. He has failed to live up to his potential - disappointing his father in the process. He is broken by the discovery of his father's extramarital affair and is a self saboteur.
HAPPY: Male. Any Ethnicity (mid 20s- early 30s). The Lomans' younger son. He's an ambitious but attention-seeking womanizer, vying for his father's approval and idolizes his older brother. He's bought into the American Dream but uses his corporate success as a tool to convince others of his affluence and power.
