SFDanceworks has announced the program for its sixth season featuring world and regional premieres by Alexander Anderson, Bryan Arias, Laura O’Malley and Pam Tanowitz, as well as excerpts of José Limón’s 1939 masterwork Danzas Mexicanas.

Cygnet Theatre has announced the cast and creative team of Sharon by Keiko Green. This darkly comedic world premiere is directed by Rob Lutfy and runs June 7 - July 2 at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town.

Celebrating Asian American Heritage Month, Comedian Kate Siahaan-Rigg and Olivia Oguma (Mamma Mia, A Christmas Carol) host Disorientalism in Joes Pub at the Public Theatre. Part 4 of their ongoing show. This is a musical and comedic fun filled show featuring New York’s premier Asian American performers including the hosts themselves. The night was vibrant with everyone in good spirits celebrating this special event!

With the sold-out production of Noël Coward's Private Lives currently running until 27 May, Artistic Director Michael Longhurst and Executive Director Henny Finch have announced the final two shows in the programme for 2023, and the conclusion of Donmar's 30th birthday season.

Tony-Nominated funny lady Kerry Butler and Wicked-alum Eden Espinosa will join host Robert Bannon at StageWorks in Pompton Lakes, NJ, as a part of the theater company’s Broadway Lecture Series.

CINEMA CINEMA returns, this time with polymath percussionist Thor Harris (Swans, Angels of Light, Shearwater) in tow, to release their seventh full length, Mjölnir. Recorded at historic BC Studio in Brooklyn, NY with legendary noise producer Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, John Zorn, Boredoms).

When MJ Wilson decided to bring back his popular 2022 Fringe show Cabaret Night Fever for a 2023 season, he wanted to make it a little bolder, a lot cheekier - and a great deal Bigger. With his inflatable sidekick Otto already pumped to maximum size, this inspired writer/comedian decided that the best way to fill his performance space was with the magic of sound. The result is a scintillating, provocative soundscape that will capture MJ and the audience as one when Cabaret Night Fever opens at The Butterfly Club on June 19.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced that based on the recommendation by the American Theatre Critics Association, Pasadena Playhouse, in Pasadena, California, will be the recipient of the 2023 Regional Theatre Tony Award. The honor is accompanied by a grant of $25,000, made possible by City National Bank's generous support.

Myles Frost, who originated the role of Michael Jackson in the Broadway production of MJ the Musical, and for which he won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, will bring his star-making performance to London.

Jagged Little Pill, is the latest “Jukebox Musical,” in a rather long line of “Jukebox Musicals,” to make it on Broadway and then tour in recent years. With music by Alanis Morissette, book by Diablo Cody, and additional music by Michael Farrell and Guy Sigsworth, the show traverses the iconic landscape of songs represented on Morissette’s 1995 album of the same name, and touches on topics of pain, healing, and empowerment.

Celebration Arts continues its 2023 Season with its third production, BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK, written by Lynn Nottage.

Ronin Theatre Company will bring The Monster of Tempe Town Lake to audiences at Irish Cultural Center this May. The comedy is the most recent play from Zoni Award winning playwright John Perovich.

Artistic Director of Kiln Theatre, Indhu Rubasingham, has announced the dates for Lynn Nottage's Mlima's Tale. Miranda Cromwell's production opens on 21 September, with previews from 14 September, and runs until 21 October. Priority booking for Kiln Card holders opens today at 12pm today. General on sale is 12pm tomorrow, 17 May.

New Perspectives Theatre Company (NPTC) has announced the May Mini Festival of Staged Readings, featuring new works from the Women's Work Full-length LAB.

All new production photos have been released from the hit musical MJ, featuring the show’s new star, Elijah Rhea Johnson, in role of Michael Jackson. Johnson joined the production in April, which marks his Broadway debut. Check out the photos here!

Open call auditions for the roles of “MJ” and “Little Michael” will be held in Chicago on Saturday, May 13th and in Detroit on Sunday, May 14th.

Imposter syndrome: it’s inevitable. In a field where the “dime-a-dozen” mentality is constantly pushed on us, it can be hard not to compare and doubt yourself. It’s not uncommon to have feelings that you don’t deserve the opportunities you’ve been given, that you’re not good enough, and that you don’t belong. But never fear! In the midst of finals week, I am experiencing (as most students do) burnout. No matter what grade or major you are, it is almost impossible to avoid burnout, between assignments, classes, and finals. For theatre students especially, it can be tough when lots of our work caters towards emotionally charged and physically exerting work, which can affect our energy not only mentally, but also emotionally and physically. While this is a lot to balance, there are ways to manage burnout while also getting your tasks done!

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced that Jerry Mitchell Will Receive The 2023 Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award in recognition of his outstanding dedication and contributions to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) and for more than three decades of volunteer service through the arts. 

The theater community rallied together once again with spirited skits, dynamic dance and brilliant bonnets as Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS’ Easter Bonnet Competition returned April 24 and 25, 2023. The performances celebrated in-theater Red Bucket appeals that raised $3,601,355 for meals and medication, health care and hope for those who need them most.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation has announced the recipient and five finalists for the 2023 Barbara Whitman Award. Established by theatrical producer Barbara Whitman in 2021, the award recognizes a female, trans, or non-binary early-career director who has demonstrated a unique vision in their work with an unrestricted $10,000 cash prize.
