Equity’s contracts prohibit discrimination. Equity is committed to diversity and encourages all its employers to engage in a policy of equal employment opportunity designed to promote a positive model of inclusion. As such, Equity encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as performers with disabilities, to submit.
[CORIE] She/her, 20s, any ethnicity. An adventurous, impulsive, wildly romantic newlywed in 1960s
New York City. Passionate bordering on reckless, Corie’s appetite for life sometimes compromises her
better judgement. Equal parts cosmopolitan and naive, Corie is a woman ready to change the world
and her husband.
[PAUL] He/him, late 20s, any ethnicity. Corie’s decidedly less adventurous new husband. Fresh out of
law school, Paul is the level-headed, conventional yin to Corie’s yang. Very much in love with Corie,
he takes his new role of provider very seriously. Dry-witted and matter-of-fact, but never cold, Paul
finds staying in his comfort zone is harder than he thought with Corie.
[ETHEL BANKS] She/her, 50s, any ethnicity. Corie’s suburban, New Jersey mother. A widow and
recent empty nester, Ethel is at a crossroads. Under the conservative exterior still lies an attractive,
witty young woman with nowhere to go. Thrilled for Corie and Paul to begin their new life together,
Ethel is willing to endure anything for her daughter... and rediscovers her own passion in the process.
[VELASCO] He/him, 50s, any ethnicity. Paul and Corie’s dynamic, eccentric neighbor. A charming,
wildly unconventional bon vivant who, like Corey, enjoys living life over the edge. Puts on an act but
under the rakish exterior lies a true gentleman.
